Hi there, I’m Hollis Clark, owner/operator of Desert Dream Outfitters. I have guided hundreds of people over the last 3 years in Joshua Tree National Park, which has been my own Desert Dream come true. My philosophy is that humans are part of nature and should embrace that! Learning and sharing the astounding ways that nature expresses itself has been my greatest joy, and I am eternally grateful to have Joshua Tree as my classroom. Beyond knowing more about the desert, our programming is curated to help you feel connected to the desert, because being at home is just as much about the heart as the mind. Stewardship
Our programming directly and indirectly promotes a restored relationship between Human Beings and our natural environment. Thru our educational content and direct contributions of time and money, we honor our duty to nurture and protect our planet with the understanding it does not belong to us. We leave all places better than we found them and strive to contribute more than we take.
Empathy
Real life human interaction is at the heart of this organization. Our actions and programming are aligned to demonstrate sincere care and concern for clients, guides, and community members. We recognize the person-to-person method of oral tradition as a valuable technology with unique advantages that can not be replicated in other forms of human communication.
Truth
At a time when quality information can be challenging to find, it is critical to speak the truth and hear the truth with courage. While the scientific method is foundational to our representation of facts and theories, we also incorporate oral histories and mythology into our tours. The source material we use to inform our programming is enthusiastically shared with clients and the community, and we transparently edit and adapt our content to incorporate new understanding and ideas.
